Mavs Compete well at TISCA 2011!!!

The mighty Mavericks showed up to the largest Coastal Bend TISCA meet in the history of the event ready to compete this year.  The 867 swimmers from 56 different teams also made up the fastest CB TISCA meet in history as well.  But this only seemed to inspire the McNeil swimmers and divers to produce even more greatness.

During an exhaustive prelims where the girls meet and the boys meet each took 5 plus hours to complete we had all six "A" relays and even one "B" relay as well as 17 individuals earn Saturday swims by finishing in the top 16 of their event.  Many great swims were posted during the long two day meet including 30 season best times and 25 lifetime best times!  That's out of 52 total individual entries, which is 58% and 48% respectively!!!  We even had the following swimmers earn medals in their events...

Katie Morgan - 2nd in 50 free AND 2nd in 100 backstroke
Kira Morgan - 3rd in 500 free
Ryan Hellmers - 3rd in 100 Butterfly
Girls 200 Freestyle Relay - Katie Morgan, Mackenzie Glava, Ice Limchantra, Samantha Chin - 3rd

And with these great performances our boys team finished 7th out of 56 teams and our girls finished 3RD!!!  Team tradition says that hardware goes to the Swimmer of the Meet which happened to be Claire Nelson who swam fabulously on two relays and posted a HUGE personal best in the 100 backstroke, dropping 3 seconds from her personal best swim in prelims only minutes after anchoring her 200 free relay.  Congratulations Claire!

Talk about a successful weekend!  Congratulations to all the mighty Mavericks!  I am so proud of everyone's competitive spirit, sportsmanship and team work that was displayed this weekend.  You all are turly the best team ever!
