It took a lot of hard work and fundraising just to get to the Deaf Olympics for Alix Gavin. Then once you get there...the pressure can be tremendous to perform. A lot of fifteen year olds wouldn't be able to handle such a situation. We are very proud to report that Alix Gavin not only dealt well with the situation, but put on quite the performance.
Alix had at least one event on each of the six days of competition giving her quite the competitive load in Sofia, Bulgaria. She had several personal best swims as well as some HUGE relay swims in helping her United States team, but arguably Alix's biggest accomplishment at the meet came on day 6. Alix had a huge personal best swim in the 200 breaststroke which earned her 8th place and a trip to the 2013 Deaf Olympics Finals. There Alix was able to drop another two seconds in a fantastic last individual swim.
Needless to say, everyone in the McNeil community is very proud of our Alix Gavin for representing not only us, but her country in the 2013 Deaf Olympic games. Alix is an amazing ambassador for us all. Congratulations Alix!
