McNeil Swimming & Diving Roster 2014-2015

What a fantastic turnout for this year's Swimming & Diving program here at McNeil High School.  It was an honor to have so many fantastic individuals with such impressive talent show up interested in representing their high school in this years UIL competitive season.

Unfortunately we do not have a place for every individual on this years team.  Please understand that the selection process is one that is not taken lightly. Everyone who showed up has obviously spent many years working on the craft of swimming. If you happened to not have made the roster this year, I recommend you continue to swim with a local year round program and tryout again next year. Thank you to everyone for their interest and congratulations to the 2014 - 2015 McNeil Varsity Swimming & Diving Team!!

SENIORS

C. Chin, M. Glava, A. Gluff, C. Gozdalski, M. Kalina, G. Ma, R. Scruggs, C. Sellers, K. Shomper*, R. Sullivan, S. Sullivan

JUNIORS

A. Gavin, C. Gibbs, J. Harris, K. Jotwani, D. Quinn*, J. Trunick, M. Wadehra, M. Warnick

SOPHOMORES

N. Bogusch(diver), P. Chin, T. Do,  H. Krebsbach, S. Iyer, A. McMillan, J. Nelson, N. Shomper*, J. Sullivan, A. Thompson

FRESHMEN

C. Beier, A. Forbes, K. Freeman, E. Gibbs*, M. Hailes, N. Kelly, N. Lewis, Z. Matula, T. McMillian, A. Seifert, A. Shamblin, D. Sim, E. Vaughn(manager)

Also, please understand that if you have made the above roster that you are agreeing to a commitment of staying in shape and working hard for the next two months leading up to the start of school. Failure to abide by this commitment could result in you forfeiting your position on the team.

If your name has a star(*) next to it then there are some special circumstances involved in your commitment to the team(i.e. - competing in a second sport) that need to be agreed upon before the start of the season.  This agreement can be finalized during the first week of school.

Also, our team is looking for a manager or two for the coming season.  If you are interested in helping out our great program please contact me by email.  The position requires the same time commitment as the rest of the above athletes and will also count towards your required physical education credit hour requirements.  Feel free to contact me with any questions as well.

All of the above athletes should be receiving an email about up coming team business. If you don't receive an email by the end of next week you should contact Coach Foss at utfoss9@yahoo.com.   Our first practice will not be until after the first day of school, but we have quite a bit of business to take care of before even school starts.

Thanks again, and congratulations to this year's Swimming & Diving Team!  See you soon.

McNeil Swimmers Earn Nominations to Military Academies!!!

Senior Tong Ma, and 2012 graduate and McNeil Swimming & Diving Alumnus Ryan Hellmers both opened some pretty good mail last Thursday.  It makes me so very proud to announce that Tong Ma and Ryan Hellmers received their official nominations to the Naval Academy and Westpoint Military Academy, respectively.  This honor comes to a very small number of American individuals that have worked and sacrificed for years.  It is fitting that two great friends and members of our small but fantastic community would receive and open these honors on the very same day.  Congratulations to Tong Ma and Ryan Hellmers for what they have earned and the example in which they set for us all.

Alix Gavin shines at Deaf World Championship meet in New York!!!

With 9 different countries represented at this year's Deaf International Swimming Championships, Alix Gavin more than held her own if you can tell by her new jewelry around her neck.  In fact, her performance was so impressive that she won Youth Swimmer of the Meet out of all competitors.  We are so proud of Alix's accomplishments and how she represented our country, school, team and community at this grand stage for international swimming.  And all of these accomplishments come while only a sophomore in high school.  We can't wait to see what goals she sets for herself next.

Congratulations to Alix and the Gavin Family!!!
