District Meet Success!!!

Mavs,

In coaching, like many other avenues of life, there are ups and downs.  The trick to enduring and lasting is to hold tight to the good times especially when times are tough.  My perseverance in this line of work should be greatly possible for a long, long time by just holding onto the feeling and experience you Mighty Maverick swimmers gave everyone on Friday and Saturday.  Every one of you prove how lucky I am to be your coach and how amazing 14-18 year old kids can be.  You absolutely blew my mind this weekend.  I can't thank you enough for the gift of that experience.

I would like to highlight a couple of those special experiences...

- 64 different personal best swims!!! (84% of all swims)
On 9 different events we had 100% personal bests swam by all four Mavericks
Every relay as well swam season best times and moved on to Regionals

- Boys AND Girls Teams both earned 2nd Place for team point totals

- 2011 District 16-5A Event Champions!
Girls 200 Medley Relay - Katie M., Rachel H., Kirby S., Samantha C. - 1:49.19
Rachel Hobbins - 200 Freestyle - 1:54.06
Katie Morgan - 50 Freestyle - 23.98
Rachel Hobbins - 500 Freestyle - 5:08.51
Katie Morgan - 100 Backstroke - 57.49

- NEW TEAM RECORDS
Girls Medley Relay - 1:49.19(by over 4 seconds!!!) - Katie M., Rachel H., Kirby S., Samantha C.
200 Freestyle - Rachel Hobbins - 1:54.06
50 Freestyle - Katie Morgan - 23.98
100 Backstroke - Katie Morgan - 57.49

- SWIMMER OF THE MEET!!!   Katie Morgan
- GIRLS COACH OF THE YEAR - me

Overall, you can see it was quite the fun meet.  And on top of this we have a lot of swimmers that have yet to rest and experience their best races.  Regionals in The Woodlands in two weeks is going to be the fastest High School meet in the State of Texas all year...mainly because we'll be there.  It's going to be fun!  Congratulations to all Mavericks on this weekend's success.  See you at the pool.
